PROJECT ALPHA

Project Alpha

Project Alpha

GBJ Consulting Ltd. (GBJ) is developing one of its diamond concessions—PE #449 (the Alpha Project)—over a multiple ten-year renewable period in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Concession #449 covers an area of 26km2 and is on the Kasai River in Kamonia, Kazumba territories in western Kasai in the most diamond-bearing region of the DRC. Diamond concentration on PE 449 is conservatively estimated at 1.0-2.5 carats/m3 of gravel, giving a total of 32 MM carats of diamonds valued at USD 3.8Bn

Concession #449 has been selected based on initial geological assessment using satellite images and geological maps. The strategy is to start with alluvial mining using dredges on the Kasai River for the initial years and later include eluvial/ terrace mining on the river banks. Whereas the alluvial (river) bed has a higher concentration of carats per metric ton of gravel (~2.5-5 ct./ton) per initial assessment, it should be noted that the level of certainty depends on the ability to target the right diamond-rich bed. This requires careful study of geological maps, satellite images, geological surveys and experience to target potential rich river beds. Terrace mining, on the other hand, has a lower level of carats per ton (~1 ct./ton) but is more certain if voluminous gravels can be procured

The Approach

A combined strategy of alluvial and terrace mining is estimated to provide both a steady and high yield of diamonds to make operations viable. To further improve success, our exploitation operation will be preceded by field geological studies conducted by qualified and experienced geologists with both local and foreign expertise.

FIELD ASSESSMENT

The objective of the field assessment is to confirm the choice of the concession for the Alpha Project, confirm the composition of alluvial deposits on the selected site and make recommends on the selection of appropriate equipment for the extraction of diamonds and other potential minerals. The field geological assessment is expected to begin in late-August and continue until the end of October 2020
